I Feel Like We Lit – Fuze the MC

I’ll preface this review with an open declaration that this genre of music generally isn’t really my jam… However, I’m not going to deny that my foot was involuntarily tapping along to the beat.

I Feel Like We Lit is a song that I interpret to be about the moment Fuze the MC made it big, and I think it’s more than justified.

This tech-rap artist can be found on Spotify with his most popular song Materialistic Girl reaching nearly 300,000 plays, and has more than 440,000 followers collectively across all of his social platforms.

At face value, you may think this song is just about the singer is sticking to the typical egocentric tones of classic rap and hip hop. However, since his fame is justified, I can see that this song is more about giving himself a pat on the back for making it.

(As a side note, the ‘go time’ lyric reminds me of that Seinfeld episode…)

Not only that, but vowing to keep his head and avoid letting the fame change him as a person.

A lotta fame bring a lot of glow, they going to make sure you pay the toll.
But don’t feed the trolls. Be the rose.
Paint a pretty picture with your honest soul.
Every rainbow don’t end in gold.
Fuze the MC

I couldn’t see who made the music video, but I really enjoyed it. Very clever.

Holly Anna Lisa – Tyme, LiL Flip & Killa Kyleon

Houston-born rapper Tyme has teamed up with Lil Flip and Killa Kyleon and released a new rap single called Holly Anna Lisa.

Jeseka Price of Price Royalty Publishing Company is the executive producer and music publisher of the rapping trio.

Honestly, rap is not my thing. So I probably don’t have the capacity to fully appreciate this song. But I hear that these three rappers are the real deal in the industry.

They speak so fast I can’t understand what they’re talking about. However, I do like the choir in the background. Combined with the high-pitched melody, it creates a spooky feel.

New Guy - Sarkodie ft. Ace Hood song review First of all, I should declare that rap music really isn’t my jam.

But I do appreciate the general gist of the song meaning, which I understand it to be about making something of yourself when everything is against you.

T-shirt tryna make it to the suit and tie

I think New Guy would be a great candidate for a remix.

The video is certainly something to rave about though; so cool! It’s directed by Justin Campos. Kudos to the editor too! Very impressive video.

When times is tough they look at me for answers

I think if you’re into rap music, New Guy will be worth a listen.

High – Shid Latta

Right. So I’m not used to this genre of music, so admittedly I had to do my research. I listen to 50s and 60s music, so the popular names of the hip hop scene go right over my head a lot of the time (I’m embarrassed to say)!

So! This song that I was asked to reviewed is called High. It is by a rap artist named Shid Latta, and it features Tove Lo and it’s produced by Hippie Sabotage. So this is a remix of a remix basically.

The original Tove Lo song was remixed by Hippie Sabotage into this song (which I think is pretty awesomely done). And Shid Latta recreated it by replacing the versus with his own.

This is Shid Latta’s first single on his upcoming album: Love + Other Drugs due to be released on 24 November.

Although the lyrics are for the most part quite rude, it certainly matches the subject matter of getting high. His contribution to the song basically frames Tove Lo’s chorus. In all seriousness though, it’s actually quite a sad song when accompanied by the original music video. It reminds me of Requiem for a Dream.

Shid Latta (AKA Rashid Latta) is a hip hop artist from Baltimore. He prides himself on not being a ‘typical rapper with tales of money, drugs, sex and streets’.

I don’t really identify with this music, but I can certainly appreciate the skills Shid Latta has for writing an rhyming. I know it’s not something everyone can do, nor be successful at doing. So I say, good on him!

For those hip hop lovers out there, I think this will be your jam. It’s damn catchy.
